J&J Ormerod whose kitchen and bedroom range continues to build share among independent retailers and quality house builders, is investing the £2m to continue its expansion programme.

With the launch of its ‘Eco’ brand earlier this year, designed to offer a low-cost alternative to mass market shed operators, J&J Ormerod said investment in new plant and machinery was essential to meet demand and maintain service levels.

The new machines include a Gabbiani Ocean 160 angle panel sawing plant with Stacker 140, two IDM squaring and edge banding machines, two Morbidelli throughfeed boring machines.

Production director Bob Myers said: “The new machines will enhance our existing carcase manufacturing plant, which currently operates 24 hours a day, and also for the outside profiling of MDF doors.”

Hi Tech Panel Division’s area sales manager Robbie O’Neill said: “When the machines are installed and running, this will be one of an increasing number of furniture manufacturers that are now going with SCM Group for the latest technology available from one source.”
