The companies will be supply partners for a consortium of four Midlands housing associations which have created a joint procurement initiative.

Bromford, Midland Heart, Waterloo and West Mercia Housing Groups have come together as part of the government-backed Procurement for Housing Initiative, which pools the resources of housing associations to grow the level of new homes built using modern methods of construction.

“This is an exciting move for the timber frame sector,” said Prestoplan sales director Andrew Ackford. “It is my belief that this collaborative approach will become a valuable way for the sector to successfully address the growth of the market.”

Christine Jones, sales and marketing director of Stewart Milne Timber Systems, said the company was delighted the consortium saw offsite timber frame construction as a process to drive down costs and drive up quality.

Consortium members signed the joint procurement initiative framework agreement with representatives of Stewart Milne and Prestoplan during the National Housing Federation’s annual conference in Birmingham.

The consortium said the partnership would enable the housing associations to work with suppliers to invest in research and development, providing better solutions for residents.
