“The Auer is attracting a lot of interest,” said sales director Guy Stanley. “We actually introduced it to our range 18 months ago, but sales are now really starting to pick up. It’s particularly suited to processing components for quality sheds and timber chalets, which are increasingly popular not just as garden buildings, but home offices and so on.“
The Auer, he added, starts at around £24,000 and can be fully automated and fitted with sawing and drilling units.
Another key machine on the stand was the Beta 3-axis CNC swing chisel mortiser from Centauro featuring touch screen programmable controls.
“The machine can also use a hollow chisel head for producing small mortices for such elements as window glazing bars, so you undertake the whole process on one unit,” said Mr Stanley. “It’s the natural next step for the workshop that’s moved over to CNC in other areas but is still using an old- fashioned mortiser. It eliminates the need for manual marking up and is suitable for any door or window maker, large or small.”
Highlighting the growth of its sales of technology for the timber frame market, JJ Smith was also exhibiting the new H&M CNC framing station which it has developed in association with the manufacturer for UK and Irish customers.
