Södra said the acquisition was a good complement to its other financial investments.
“With this purchase we continue growing our portfolio of company-owned forest land,” said Mats Sandgren, president of Södra’s forestry division Södra Skog.
Metsäliitto said the sale was part of its focus on its core business.
“This can be seen as a natural continuation of the sale of our Estonian forest holdings implemented in June this year,” said Metsaliitto’s Heikki Karhunen. “The sale of our forest holdings in Latvia has no effect to our wood procurement actions in Latvia.”
