Rosewood Packaging manager David Knowles is the first person to achieve an NVQ in Team Leadership through Gateshead College. He is also the first employee at Rosewood to gain this qualification.
Mr Knowles joined Fullerton Packaging in North Shields in 1993 as a timber product manufacturer and was employed as a driver when Rosewood acquired the company in 2004. Rosewood appointed him as a cell manager at its Jarrow timber manufacturing unit where he has joint responsibility for six shop floor staff who produce cases, crates and other timber packaging.
Lianne Corcoran, business development executive at Gateshead College, said the aim was to deliver training that equipped businesses with the skills they needed to be competitive.
“David’s achievement in Team Leading will enable him to share the skills he has developed and improve business performance,” she said.
