The companies, comprising three wood flooring producers and one plywood manufacturer, were welcomed to the China FTN at its first annual members meeting at the China Wood International Flooring Import and Export Conference in Shanghai.
China FTN, the Chinese chapter of WWF‘s Global Forest and Trade Network, now has 10 trading participants and two forest management members collectively producing or trading almost 2 million m3 of raw material sourced from across the world.
The network is expected to grow further during 2007, as a further nine applicants, responsible for more than 1.5 million m3 of timber are waiting to join.
The new flooring company members are Dalian Huade Wood Products Co Ltd, Chinafloors Timber (Shanghai) Co Ltd and Krono Senhua Flooring Co Ltd, while Dehua TB New Decoration Material Co Ltd makes plywood.
The companies all export to environmentally-sensitive markets in Europe and North America. By joining China FTN, they have committed to produce and purchase responsible forest products.
“We hope the China FTN will help us develop a clearer understanding of our supply chains from Russia and the rest of the world so that we can achieve Forest Stewardship Council certification,” said Karen Chen of Dalian Huade.
