The Austrian-based wood-based panel producer has teamed up with furniture fittings manufacturer Hettich and edgeband processing company Rehau to set up a development network for lightweight panel products.

The aim of the “Lightweight Network” is to develop frameless lightweight board systems to industrial, rather than bespoke, production standards to satisfy the requirements of the furniture industry.

Collaboration covers the development of solutions for the coating, edging and processing of lightweight boards.

Egger completed what it described as the world’s first industrial production line for lightweight building boards in September, 2006. The Eurolight boards combine a lightweight honeycomb centre sandwiched between slim high-density boards.
