Andrew Newton, a director of Edinburgh-based agent William R Allan (Scotland) Ltd, was elected as the new president of the Scottish Timber Trade Association at the organisation’s AGM in December.

Russell Paterson, managing director of Glasgow-based Paterson Timber Ltd, importer and merchant of hardwood and specialist softwoods, was elected vice-president.

Mr Newton succeeds Neil Donaldson, chairman and chief executive of James Donaldson and Sons Ltd, who has been STTA president for two years. Mr Donaldson was elected president of The Timber Trade Federation last year.
