The Huddersfield foil laminator is producing 2,500 shaped desktop panels a week for manufacturers of commercial office desking and allied furniture at its former headquarters, said Malcolm Forward, managing director of the DP Components Division. He added that the company was also producing large-scale panels for pedestals, filing cabinets and shaped or occasional boardroom-style tables.
“Many manufacturers are finding that these big shapes cause bottlenecks on their own shop floors. The second edgebander raises our game significantly,” he said.
The Millennium can apply heavy-duty commercial PVC edgings at 3mm in thickness up to 25mm for office desking. It is equipped with a modular and easily configured suction cup system that is adaptable to a range of shapes for contemporary furniture applications.
“It will handle quite tight radii and the quality of edge finishing, particularly joints on all round edge finished pieces, is the best I’ve seen,” said Mr Forward.
