Deutsche Messe, one of the organisers of the Ligna Fair in Hanover, told reporters at the Ligna 2007 press preview that it was watching for the outcome of the “battle” between Interzum and ZOW, which both service the furniture production and interior design markets.
Deutsche Messe senior vice-president Andreas Gruchow told reporters that there would be synergy in Interzum, which is organised by Koeln Messe, moving from Cologne to Hanover.
“But it’s up to the exhibitors to decide that,” said Mr Gruchow. “We can’t decide it. We are waiting for the battle between Interzum and ZOW.
“I think it [Interzum] will change and must change. We will see what happens at Interzum in May.”
Mr Gruchow said 14,000-15,000 people attending Ligna 2005 had also attended Interzum.
He said although the two shows had different philosophies, they were still “closely connected”.
This year will be the first year when there will be no overlap between Interzum and Ligna. Interzum will take place between May 9-12, while Ligna is on May 14-18.
Ligna 2007 is to feature an increased emphasis on surface treatment technologies, which will include stains, fire retardants, primers, films, foils, edging materials and paints.
