Borneo Resources Institute (BRI) and Sahabat Alam Malaysia held informal meetings with European Commission representatives during their recent trip to northern Sarawak.
BRI told the commission delegation that any independent body must include NGOs and native communities in order to be truly independent.
The EUropean Commission is currently working on a voluntary partnership agreement with Malaysia, under which Malaysian timber products could be guaranteed acccess to the EU.
