Equipment sales specialist Liebherr has invested £7m in a rental fleet of 55 forestry and timber, earthmoving, quarrying and demolition vehicles, and expects to be operational by the summer. Liebherr Rental will also have access to a pool of more than 3,000 additional machines from its Continental operations.

The company will be based in the organisation’s existing Biggleswade headquarters with depots in Bathgate, West Lothian; and Wigan.

Liebherr said the business will not conflict with its capital equipment sales activities, but will broaden the products and services available to the UK market.

The company said it is recruiting new rental staff and expanding the number of its field service engineers.

A spokesman said: “This will provide the opportunity to operate specialist Liebherr equipment on a hire basis direct from the manufacturer.”
