Owner Wolseley UK said it was a milestone for its construction materials distributor and the development of a national stock of FSC hardwood plywood among all its 280 branches.
The award by the Forest Stewardship Council follows certification of other branches by the PEFC Council. The range includes sawn and machined timber, joinery products, and panel products.
Build Center said it was responding to the increasing demand for wood from legal and sustainable sources. Jermain Cheetham, Wolseley UK’s national chain of custody manager, said: “We are working hard to raise our customers’ awareness of sustainable timber products. They can now buy the timber straight off the shelf.”
