Justice Alan Blow found that the companies Fulghum Industries and Grayson Engineering were jointly responsible for the failure of the crane, which was lifting 14 tonnes of logs when it broke at the site in Hampshire, Tasmania.
Justice Blow stated that the two firms had supplied defective parts for the crane prior to its failure in June 1998.
