Illingworth’s expansion of its Trafford Park site from 130,000ft2 to 150,000ft2 has, the company said, helped negate the “current market volatility”.

The company is also redeveloping the entire Manchester site, with surplus internal offices being removed to further increase Illingworth’s storage capacity and dedicated loading bays being added to the facility.

“When the additional warehousing space adjacent to our existing premises became available it was just too good an opportunity to pass up as it was the perfect way to facilitate our ongoing expansion plans,” said the company’s chairman Simon Graveley.

Illingworth has also purchased a new 26-tonne Scania lorry, which has been designed for easy loading and unloading, and two new Weinig Multi Rip Saws.

“Our decision to make this investment was due to our ongoing commitment to reduce our delivery costs and to ensure our customers benefit,” added Mr Graveley.
