The new kiln is to have a 100,000m3 capacity and is in addition to seven new chamber kilns, which are already being constructed at the sawmill.
“A modern kilning facility is crucial for producing customer-specific and further processed products,” said Jerry Larsson, manager of the Tunadal sawmill. “This is another step towards placing Tunadal sawmill on a par with the most competitive spruce sawmills in Europe.”
Tunadal sawmill produced 330,000m3 of solid wood products in 2006, a figure which SCA is aiming to increase with the £3m investment.
