Speaking at its annual conference, party leader Kevin Rudd reiterated its commitment to Regional Forest Agreements, 20-year plans to conserve and promote the sustainable management of Australia’s indigenous forests, which would bring about “a viable long-term forestry industry in Tasmania”.

However, TCA’s Jill Lewis has stated that the organisation wanted to see clear evidence that there would be “no more job losses” in the sector and evidence that Mr Rudd intended to back up his commitments to the agreements with actions.
