This is to focus on regulations and tariffs that affect market access to timber and cocoa products coming out of Malaysia and will also involve Russian officials, Datuk Anifah Aman, Malaysian deputy minister of plantation, industries and commodities, has said.

Over the next three weeks, Mr Anifah is to lead a diplomatic team to all three countries in order to ensure that European importers are aware that Malaysia is undertaking measures to cut illegal logging and stop the trade of illegal timber.

“The mission will promote our timber certification scheme under the Malaysian Timber Certification Council and seek support and recognition for this scheme,” said Mr Anifah.
