Deutsche Messe and the German Engineering Foundation, event joint organisers, said the word around the exhibtion halls was the 2007 show was “the best Ligna of all time”.

Initial figures for the May 14-18 event suggest an attendance of 107,000, compared to 96,675 in 2005.

Other results include more visitors from abroad, more trade professionals and more deals closed.

A total of 50,200 foreign visitors boosted the international visitor ratio to 46.5%, compared with 42.8% two years ago.

“Ligna 2007 has delivered exactly the kind of stimuli needed for even more solid growth ahead,” said Stephan Kühne, member of the Deutsche Messe managing board.
