The company’s existing key system comprises a range of polymer ‘key’ designs for creating dovetail joints in joinery and furniture. It is complemented by Hoffman’s X-Line which undertakes sawing, drilling and routing to produce the components and rout out the holes for the keys.

The new development is a specially designed rubber key which is inserted into routed slots in the underside of the wood and, besides joining the pieces, acts as a footing for decking or flooring.

“It can be used indoors, say in saunas or conservatories, and outside in decking,” said a Hoffman spokesperson. “It also enables both decking and flooring to be made up of small sections of timber.”
