TRADA was deeply saddened by the death of former regional officer Howard Wilkinson on June 5.
Mr Wilkinson joined TRADA in April 1953 as regional officer for the north-west. Within two years, he had made his mark and a reorganisation in 1955 saw his position consolidated. He went on to become senior regional officer well before his eventual retirement in November 1985. Throughout his career, he attracted liking and respect, both from colleagues and from TRADA members and non-members alike.
Not one to shy away from a challenge, Mr Wilkinson pursued his education into his late fifties by taking a part-time course at Bolton Institute of Technology and in June 1980 gained a BA (Hons) degree in philosophy and history.
His funeral took place on June 13 at Bolton Overdale Crematorium.
