NFP Europe Ltd has reached an agreement with two German companies to bring composite decking and timber garden and leisure products to the UK market.

Surrey-based NFP believes the tie-up with composite decking manufacturer Megawood and timber garden/leisure products supplier Holz-Speckmann will bring the “European” way of doing business to the UK, and reflects changing times in the distribution of timber products.

NFP managing director Michael Stubbs told TTJ that the company had worked successfully to bring the products to the Irish market in the past year and was now looking at how best to market the ranges in the UK.

The Megawood product comprises 75% wood fibre and 25% polymer in a range of hollow or solid profiles. It is aimed at people “who want something a bit different”, said Mr Stubbs, whose company already sells softwood decking.

Holz-Speckmann products to be offered include fencing, play equipment, log cabins and gates.

“We are bringing the European way of business where you order products today, pay for them and they come door to door on a lorry,” said Mr Stubbs.

“We do not have to wait for shiploads, this is German efficiency and convenience. Products can be mixed together so you can have two log cabins, hardwood decking and play equipment, literally a whole range of items, on one lorry.

“At the end of the day the way of doing business is changing.”

NFP plans to bring sample products over before the end of the year with an official launch expected in 2008.
