The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has told TTJ that timber and steel both remain options for the roof support structure of the planned London 2012 Aquatics Centre.
A report in Building magazine suggested that timber could be chosen ahead of steel to cut costs.
But an ODA spokesperson said no decisions on the roof supports for the pool, designed by Zaha Hadid, would be taken until a contractor had been chosen and costings made. He expected a decision by early next year.
The £70m, 20,000-seater pool, featuring an S-shaped roof inspired by the flow of water, will feature two 50m pools and a diving pool.
Events will include speed and synchronised swimming, diving and water polo finals.
