Dundee-based door manufacturer McTavish Ramsay has merged with Doors by Design to create a £10m turnover company.
Glasgow investment company Symphony Corporate, already a substantial shareholder in McTavish Ramsay, and the Clydesdale Bank supported the deal.
The merged company immediately stated its ambition to become the second biggest player in the UK specialist door manufacturing market within the next two years.
Former Doors By Design managing director Tom Johnstone will join the merged company’s board and will be responsible for streamlining its manufacturing processes.
Entrepeneur Ian Stillie, former chief executive of Motherwell FC and who has run a string of companies including a media business, has been appointed chairman.
Mr Stillie said the business will be driven forward by organic growth and acquisition.
The combined businesses will continue to trade under their own name, but with manufacturing being concentrated at McTavish’s Dundee factory, which has recently undergone a £1.5m investment, and Doors by Design’s Inchinnan site focusing on design and development.
