PRP Architects has used the ElecoFrame timber construction system to produce a conventional house that meets the requirements for level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH).
The property has been designed to resemble “a traditional house” and does not employ renewable technologies to meet CSH guidelines, instead using Eleco Timber Frame’s construction system and other energy efficient measures such as a whole house ventilation system.
This has led Eleco Timber Frame to say that 2010 is “not an unrealistic target for reaching level three of the code”.
“Having made the decision to build with timber frame, providing the design complies with Building Regulations and is used in conjunction with a series of carbon reducing measures, there is no reason why builders can’t achieve carbon neutrality well before 2016,” said Eleco Timber Frame managing director Paul Taylor.
