A Striebig Compact 4164 vertical saw has helped Scottish manufacturer Directdoors.com cope with overseas demand and improve its end product.
Supplied by Airdrie-based Deral Ltd, the saw is used to produce softwood and hardwood door blanks, which had previously been sized using hand-held tools.
This has shaved the time taken to size doors from 30 minutes to 60 seconds according to the Edinburgh-based firm, as well as “giving a much better finish every time”.
“I bought it primarily to cope with a large order coming in from a major customer in Gibraltar,” said Mike Froude, Directdoors.com managing director.
Deral, which works on behalf of TM Machinery Sales to distribute Striebig saws in Scotland, also supplied and installed a digital measuring system that is accurate to 0.1mm alongside the saw.
The compact 4164 has a maximum cutting size of 3100x1644mm and a cutting depth of 60mm
