One person remains missing after a cargo ship carrying timber from Russia to China sank in the Sea of Japan on Sunday.

The Kastor-1 vessel, which was carrying timber from the Russian port of Nakhodka to China, sank 180 nautical miles from the port during a storm.

The vessel was carrying 30 crew members and six passengers when it encountered trouble, with 35 escaping on life rafts before being rescued.

Rescue crews are continuing to search for the missing sailor.
