Timbermark ID Systems Ltd has plans to develop the process that allows it to digitally print photographs onto fence panels and take on more contract marking.

The technology, which was on display at Interbuild, allows images to be printed straight on to the wood while also marking individual pieces to ease on-site assembly.

Timbermark says that the process takes around four hours when originating each picture but that by producing a range of stock images, the length of time required to produce fencing could be halved.

“We’re looking to develop the contract marking side of the business,” said Colin Stewart, Timbermark director. “We’d have a range [of images] on file to reduce costs and time and commercially market the product.”

Mr Stewart added that there had been lots of interest in the fencing at Interbuild and that there are a range of applications where the technology could be used, including airports and outdoor areas of pubs.

Timbermark also exhibited the hand-held Handjet EBS-250 digital printer, which can be used to “quickly and easily” mark individual pieces of wood.
