Ian Munro, national sales manager for the Penrith Door Company, has retired after 39 years with the group.

Mr Munro’s association started with with William Evans Distributors Ltd, before its acquisition by Southerns Ltd to become Southerns-Evans Ltd of Widnes. Magnet subsequently acquired the company and in 1988 Mr Munro was appointed as national sales manager for the Penrith factory, specifically to develop door sales direct to merchants. Prior to his appointment all production from the factory was sold through Magnet’s branches.

During this time he completed an MSc in environmental issues, focusing on the effectiveness of the FSC’s campaign to increase the consumer’s awareness of timber from certified sources.

The Penrith factory was purchased by Jeld-Wen (UK) Ltd in 2002.
