The Olympic Delivery Authority’s (ODA) director of procurement Morag Stuart has been added to the speaker line-up for TRADA’s In Touch with Timber conference.

Ms Stuart will join keynote speaker Lord David Clark, chairman of the Forestry Commission, in looking at the opportunities for timber in 2012 and beyond.

In addition, MPs Paddy Tipping and James Paice will join Lord Clark and Lord Richard Newby, Liberal Democrat spokesperson for The Treasury, in an open forum designed to allow delegates to ask Olympics-related questions.

TRADA is also expected to confirm a leading architect speaker soon.

TRADA chief executive Andrew Abbott said sustainability and sustainable design and supply were at the heart of the London 2012 Olympics and would be the focus of the conference, which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster on May 20.

“The Olympics has already raised the bar generally for all public procurement,” he added. “In Touch with Timber is not therefore just about timber at the Olympics, it is about sustainable development using the London 2012 Olympics to illustrate how timber can contribute to addressing issues surrounding sustainability and climate change.”

The event will be chaired by Wood for Gold chairman and architect Craig White.

Other speakers will include director of Eurban Construction Jonathan Fovargue, who will present “Innovation in Timber Engineering and the Olympics”, Gordon Ewbank, chairman of the Wood Protection Association, who will discuss modern methods of wood protection, and TRADA information service manager Jeremy Vibert who will speak on temporary buildings for the Olympics.
