A record number of exhibitors are to attend the Xylexpo New woodworking technology show in Milan from May 27-31.

With a full two months before the doors open, 830 exhibitors had booked taking up over 75,000m² of floor space. This is up from 804 exhibitors at the 2006 edition of the show.

Although Italian firms have booked up more than half of the exhibition space according to organiser ACIMALL (Italian woodworking machinery and tools manufacturers’ association), international companies are also showing a growing interest, with 282 companies from 38 countries due to attend.

European nations are set to make up a large percenrage of that number, with 92 from Germany, 16 from Spain, 15 from Austria and 12 from Switzerland. Far Eastern firms will also be there in abundance, with 27 companies from Taiwan and 19 from
