ProBuild Holdings has acquired Khempco Building Supply (KBS), including its lumber, truss manufacturing and engineered wood products operations.

ProBuild, America’s largest building materials supplier to professional contractors with more than 560 sites, acquired KBS for an undisclosed sum and now has access to its lumber inventory of around 15 million board feet and 40 acres of timber yard. It also includes KBS’s truss plants in Delaware, Ohio and Kentucky, as well as its commercial door facility in Columbus, Ohio.

“KBS’s trading area complements ProBuild’s existing coverage, allowing our customers to benefit from the availability of additional products and services KBS has to offer,” said Dale Kukowski, president of ProBuild’s northern operations.

“Growth through acquisitions remains an important element of our corporate strategy,” added Paul Hylbert, ProBuild chief executive officer.

“Our capital structure accommodates this kind of growth even in these challenging times, allowing us to continue to seek opportunities that support customer needs and fit into our long-term strategy.”

Ohio-based KBS joins HD Supply Lumber and Building Materials, Grange Lumber and Rosen Building Supplies as part of the building materials group.
