The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) has secured £26,000 of funding for smaller company members to help them achieve chain of custody or ISO 9001 approval through its Total Support Services (TSS) package.

The money has been secured from the ConstructionSkills Management & Supervisory Development Programme, and will be used to offset the cost of consultancy involved in achieving the management systems.

The BWF said this will result in a cost reduction of around 50% for its members and provides a “great opportunity”.

“The award of this grant funding is a powerful endorsement of the work the BWF is doing in helping smaller companies improve their business performance,” said Leah Williams, training manager at the BWF’s Woodworking Industry Training Forum.

“And in practical terms almost half of the costs of the TSS package for achieving ISO 9001 or chain of custody for these smaller company members will be grant funded.”

TSS was launched last year by the BWF to provide technical and business advice to its members and help them meet changing legislation and regulation.
