Jewson has called in police to investigate suspected “fraudulent supply and procurement of marketing services”.
The company released a statement detailing the action and said a police investigation was taking place with Jewson’s full co-operaton and support.
Jewson also said it had dismissed sales director Tony Newman on April 18, as well as another person who had worked for the company for less than two weeks, following an investigation by its internal audit department.
“We can categorically state that no customers are or have been in any way involved with this matter,” the statement said.
“Jewson is an organisation that is governed by strong principles of conduct. This incident is seen as an opportunity to reaffirm these across the organisation and with our external relations. We are unable to comment further at this time in light of the ongoing police investigation.”
