Welsh sawmill Glasfryn’s Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification is helping the Environment Agency source locally-produced certified timber.
The company said without Glasfryn’s certification, achieved in April, the agency would have to source its “local” timber requirements by making a round trip of more than 140 miles to Aberystwyth.
Now the agency collects its timber from Pwllheli-based Glasfryn, be it Tanalised timbers in different length or poles to be used on beaches to retain sand dunes.
The company’s products include rails, stake materials for fencing, timber rounds, trellis and arches, gate posts, poles, swings, play equipment and sheds.
