Speakers from housebuilder Barratt Developments, modern methods of construction pioneer Kingspan Offsite, the Carbon Trust and TRADA will feature at TTJ’s Wood Futures Conference.

This year’s event at London’s Royal Festival Hall on November 6 is titled Countdown to Zero and looks at the implications for the timber trade of the government’s target for new housing to be zero carbon by 2016.

Latest speakers to be announced include Francis Rottenburg from the Carbon Trust, and Ben Cook, senior land manager at Barratt, who was a project manager on the company’s Carbon Challenge-winning Hanham Hall Development.

The speaker from Kingspan will be technical director Dr Paul Newman, whose role is to develop the company’s technical strategy and “push building product boundaries”.

From TRADA will be regulations and codes consultant Rupert Scott. He will address sustainable building waste strategies and what the timber sector must do to tackle this vital area.

Other speakers at Wood Futures, which is organised with the Medite 2016 Forum, include Building for Life chairman Wayne Hemingway and Wolseley’s head of sustainability Tim Pollard.
