Nine North American OSB manufacturers accused of price fixing have collectively agreed to pay US$135m in settlement of the case, according to industry newsletter Random Lengths.

The final settlements in the case, initially brought two and-a-half years ago, were finalised in mid-July.

Most of the defendants agreed to settle to avoid further legal costs and the uncertainty of a trial.

But there may be more rumblings in the case yet, as two of the plaintiffs – Home Depot and 84 Lumber – opted out of the case in May and are carrying out investigations into the price-fixing themselves, with the the possibility of increased claims being brought in the future.
