Interest in modified wood brand Accoya is being translated into orders, with regular business from new and existing customers on the up according to sole UK supplier BSW Timber.

BSW said it is now approaching 1.000m3 of Accoya stock landed in the UK, with around 15,000 windows manufactured in the material.

Customers include The Sash Window Workshop, which began using the acetylated timber in April and said it now accounts for half its production, while distributor International Timber is receiving regular orders from a number of joinery companies.

This has been supplemented with a doubling in production at the factory in Arnhem, the Netherlands, funded through a stock market listing by parent company Accsys Technologies (TTJ 15/22 September 2007), and an increase in warehousing capacity at BSW’s Carlisle site.

“Since taking our first order in April, Accoya has started to dominate our product range,” said Richard Dollar, managing director of The Sash Window Workshop.

“Accoya is the perfect choice for many of our projects as it provides outstanding performance at a sensible cost.”

BSW added cladding suppliers are turning to Accoya as it offers an extended coated service life of up to 60 years, according to research by Napier University and the BRE.
