About 200 customers and suppliers of Clifford Jones Timber turned out for the company’s 60th anniversary celebrations last week.

The Welsh company, whose products include machine rounded timber, decking, fencing, log homes and wood fuel, held open days on September 11-12, where customers could see harvesting in Forestry Commission forests and sawmilling operations.

The company has more to celebrate this Thursday when Welsh minister for economy and transport Ieuan Wyn Jones officially opens the company’s £4m wood pellet plant.

Clifford Jones marketing manager Paul Clarke said the company’s briquette and pellet business was growing, with an annual pellet production of 40,000 tonnes targeted.
