Mercedes-Benz’s Electronic Inspection System (EIS) has helped timber products manufacturer FW Mason & Sons to enhance its delivery service.

EIS uses hand-held PDA devices to record information and documentation relating to the inspection of its vehicles, which can then be accessed and viewed in real-time via computer.

Mason currently has 10 26-tonne Mercedes-Benz Actros rigid lorries and an 18-tonne Axor on the road.

“Using our own PCs we can access, view and print all inspection sheets and other documentation in real time, and there’s no need to wade through mountains of hard copy paperwork any more,” said Mason’s transport manager Dave Barron.
