The average price of Forestry Commision softwood sawlogs grew by 31.1% in the six months to September 2007 compared with a year ago, according to the latest commission statistics.
The Forestry Commission’s Softwood Sawlog Price Index measures the average price received per cubic metre of sawlogs from commission sales.
Average prices received per cubic metre of standing timber were up 34.9% to £10.66 in nominal terms (£8.08 in 1996 prices) in the year to September.
