Experienced businessman Sir Gerry Robinson is to offer firms attached to the construction industry his advice and guidance in a new series to be broadcast on Channel 4 next year.

Mr Robinson is looking for businesses struggling in the current economic climate, and the construction sector and its suppliers, such as timber companies, are on his list.

He will offer “expert business advice and potentially a substantial cash injection from his own funds”, according to production team Gogglebox Entertainment.

Privately-owned firms with a turnover in excess of £500,000 a year are being sought for the show.

Mr Robinson is former chief executive of TV company Granada, as well as serving as chairman of Arts Council England for six years from 1998.

The show is due to be broadcast around Easter next year.
