The New Shetland Museum & Archives in Lerwick last night won the Wood Awards Gold Award.

The building, designed by BDP and featuring Siberian larch cladding and reclaimed oak floors, windows and restaurant furniture, also won the Commercial & Public Access category.

The other winners, announced at a ceremony at the Carpenters’ Hall in London, were:

Private: Halligan house; Simon Conder
Conservation & Restoration: Whitestaunton Manor, Somerset; Jonathan Rhind Architects
Furniture: The Sleeping Dragon; chaircreative
Best Use of British Timber: The Collector Earl’s Garden, Arundel Castle, West Sussex; I&J Bannerman
Best Use of Panel Products: Taylor Library, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge
Best Small Project: Lindisfarne Castle Ticket Hut, Northumberland; Sinclair Johnston & Partners Ltd
