An Australian timber merchant has reportedly been killed in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Brett Taylor of Blacktown Timber in New South Wales (NSW) was said to have been on a NSW trade delegation to India at the time.

He was thought to have been staying with other members of the delegation at the Oberoi Hotel.

Mr Taylor is co-owner of Blacktown Timber, which was established in 1972 by the Taylor family who are fifth generation timber merchants.

The company is a wholesaler, distributer, importer and exporter, with products including radiata pine, Victorian ash and Tasmanian oak, meranti and merbau, as well as a variety of sheet materials.
