Russian forestry group InvestLesProm has appointed Dean Leng to lead and develop its sales of sawn timber, glulam products and sheet materials in the UK.

InvestLesProm has become a key player in the Russian forestry sector. It is active in Karelia, Archangel, Vologda, Kirov and Perm, and with an annual turnover of approximately €1bn. it is the dominant forestry group in north-western Russia. Its four divisions concentrate on logging, sawmilling and woodworking, pulp and paper, and paper sacks and packaging.

The sawmilling and woodworking division has an annual turnover of about €180m, including sheet materials and glulam products. Familiar names in this division are Onega, Segezha, Medvezhyegorsk and Ilinsky, of which Onega and Segezha already enjoy FSC certification. Investlesprom is currently working to obtain FSC certification for the other group members.

UK sales of sawn timber, glulam products and sheet materials will be channelled through Arka Merchants Ltd, InvestLesProm’s international trading subsidiary.
