Timber’s role in helping get the best performance from building materials has been showcased at the Environment Agency’s annual conference.
Kidderminster-based M&M Timber Ltd was invited to exhibit at the conference, where it displayed a selection of products including its new range of micronised timber.
“There’s a lot of talk in the industry now about sustainability, but few people consider the ‘life in service’ aspect of timber products,” said M&M managing director Nigel Poyner.
“This has become an important consideration for major landscaping and fencing projects.”
Around 500 delegates attended the conference, representing government and the agriculture, construction and development sectors. Speakers included Ed Miliband, secretary of state at the Department of Energy and Climate Change; Hilary Benn, secretary of state at Defra; Boris Johnson, mayor of London; and Stavros Dimas, EU commissioner for environment.
