Finnish forest industry purchases of domestic logs in November was down 31% from the previous month, according to the latest figures from the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.
A total of 2.7 million m3 was bought by the industry during the month, while the aggregate purchases for the year to date was 28.5 million m3 – 10% less than the average for the the last five years.
Stumpage prices in November fell by 4-6% compared to October, with average prices of pine and spruce logs €54-55 per m3.
Average export prices of sawn timber have already fallen to levels last seen in 2005, but softwood logs remain 16-26% more expensive than then.
