Peter McDougall, a well-known figure in the timber industry, died on December 28 following a short illness. He was 68.

Mr McDougall joined the timber trade in the early 1960s, working at Phoenix Timber Co in Rainham. In the mid-1970s he joined Churchill & Sim, travelling extensively before starting his own company, McDougall Boards, in the early 1980s. After a short period he became a co-owner and director of Essex Sawyers in Grays where he remained working until his death.

He will be sadly missed by all his friends and colleagues and is survived by his wife Ruth and daughter Allison.

His funeral will be held at Corbets Tey, Upminster, on Friday January 9. Donations can be made to Hornchurch Round Table.
