A series of short films depicting woodland crafts and forestry techniques have been made available through YouTube.
WoodlandsTV.co.uk has placed a number of videos covering different topics on YouTube, as well as its website, showing horse logging, wood turning, chainsaw sharpening, coppicing, willow weaving and other activities.
Made by private woodland ownership promoter Woodlands.co.uk, the videos are designed to teach the public about woodland activities.
“People kept asking us what woodlands phrases like ‘pole lathe turning’, ‘horse logging’ and ‘kelly kettle’ meant, so we decided to explain visually,” said Woodlands.co.uk’s Richard Scholfield.
“We wanted to bring woodlands, and the things that go in them, alive, and to transport them into people’s houses.”
