A Cornish timber firm says it’s “business as usual” despite fire destroying two large storage buildings at its Bodmin Valley timber yard.

Parkway Timber Co has had to bring in another sawmill and relocate its power supply after fire – the cause of which was attributed to an electrical fault – destroyed all its machinery and a fork lift truck.

At the height of the blaze, 14 fire crews using six water jets and a high volume pump were needed to tackle it.

Paul Smith, sales manager at Parkway Timber Co, stressed that the company was still open for business. “Fortunately, our stock was not hit by the blaze,” he told TTJ. “It’s very much business as usual.”
